Beyond Our Crown
Designed to center Afrocentric hair, the conference explores the ancestry, history, and care of natural hair textures while celebrating their cultural significance. Intended for audiences ages 16 and over, with children welcomed, the event positions Afrocentric hair and hairstyles as beautiful, appropriate in all spaces, and central to personal and collective identity.
This project uses the imagined conference as a medium to communicate these values through visual language, emphasizing representation, culture, and pride as the foundation of the brand.
Coils, Kinks & Curls Convention
This hypothetical festival/conference created as a conceptual project to showcase the development of a brand identity.
For my logo I decided to recreate the infamous image of a black figure with an afro. I abstracted the face and created and organic font that follows the outline of the afro.
I chose six variations of nudes ranging from light to deep to acknowledge the diversity within the Black community in both hair and skin tone.
